Obituary of Margaret Tyerina
Maggie Tyerina, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in Houston, Texas. Born on February 6, 1946, to Candida Tijerina and Frank Tijerina. She is preceded in death by her parents, Candida and Frank Tijerina, brother Frank Tijerina and sister, Helen Trevino, nephews Frank Tijerina and Fred Tijerina.
She is survived by sisters, Lillie Gomez, Mary Alice Tamayo and twin sister, Annie Raburn, nephews Mike Trevino, Rick Trevino, Oscar Lee Gomez and Steven Tijerina, niece Cindi Ann Carroll and great nieces and nephews, Jackie Gonzalez, Silvano, Davon, Oscar, Gabrella and Corrin Gomez.
Maggie lived all her life in Houston. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School and worked for the Harris County Hospital District, worked as a draftsman, medical transcriptionist and in the court reporting business.
Always loyal to her family and friends and never forgot a birthday or anniversary, by acknowledging it with a card or phone call.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for the last several years and was a long-standing member of All Saints Catholic Church.
She was a sports enthusiast, an avid fan of the Houston Astros and seldom missed a televised game. Maggie loved to dance and listen to mariachi music. She also never saw a good-looking car without commenting on it!
Visitation, Rosary and Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell, Houston, Texas 77007 on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Visitation at 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10:00 a.m., Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. The funeral Mass will be concelebrated by Rev. Phil Lloyd and Msgr. Adam McClosky. A private interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church in her honor.
