Obituary of Balenda Keelin
Balenda “Suzanne” (Smith) Keelin, 64, of Kingwood, Texas, passed on August 23, 2023. Suzanne was born on March 3, 1959, in Houston, Texas. She was raised in Garden Oaks and relocated to Kingwood, Texas in September of 2008.
Suzanne was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Her heart was gold. She loved life and family. She had a passion for the outdoors, traveling, reading, dancing, playing games, old movies, her dogs, Poppy and Remington, and her favorite thing, stormy days, and rainy nights. Her life changed in March of 2021 when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She also suffered from other significant illnesses; however, she fought every day, and her journey was long and at times exhaustive, but she always made the best of it and never, never wanted to give up. She lasted 5 months longer than expected. She will always be loved and remembered, as she touched many lives.
Surviving Suzanne is her beloved partner of 18 years, Donne Callaway (Kingwood, Texas), who held her until she took her last breath and passed through the gates of Heaven after God took her hand and rested her soul. Her stepdaughter, Samantha S. Vacek of Austin, Texas, her stepson, Donald “Donny” S. Vacek of Kingwood, Texas, her son, Joe Henderson, her daughter, Kelsey Keelin, and her grandchildren, Robert, Justin, and Penelope, all of Houston, Texas. Loving sisters, Sandra of Tomball, Texas. Diane of Navasota, Texas, her brother Jerry and wife Karen of Franklin, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is her mother, Oma Virgina Holub, Father Gerald (Jody) Smith, and siblings Bobby, Gary (Boa), Ricky, Rita, and Rodger.
We would like to thank her Harbor Hospice nurse Nathalie, the staff of Harbor Hospice, her employed caregivers Amanda, and Katelyn, as well as her friends and family who visited during her journey. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Pastor Matt for all the visits, both in the hospital and at home, and for her Baptism.
Rest, Rule, and Abide, Henceforth and Forever More. As I Remain.
A celebration of life is tentatively scheduled for September 23, 2023, in recognition of the 23rd being the day she passed on. Location details to follow.
