"Dear Elder family and Friends,
This is very sad news about Bob, having just met with him at the recents OCHS class reunion. He was the most fearless person I have ever known. In one memory with Bob when we were teenagers, we were on a canoe trip on the Allegheny River near the town of West Hickory, upstream of Tionesta,PA and we had been fishing during our trip. Bob's hand had been snagged a couple days earlier with a treble hook which we had to remove "the hard way." Bob was not complaining but then one of the other boys in the group noticed a red-streak trailing up Bob's arm, which seemed to move further up his arm by the hour, indicating blood poisoning had begun to take effect. Bob's response was that this probably was the case but his physician father had told him once that this is not a problem until the trail has passed through your heart more than a couple times. Bob explained that since we had a couple more days yet to finish our trip on the river, this was no reason for concern until the end of the trip. When we arrived to Tionesta, we did phone his family, and he was taken for treatment. Bob was completely calm about this situation as he was in many other adventures on the river of life.
We will all miss Bob's light and courage and immovable spirit of fun."

"There is just a connection between our two families that is hard to explain but the Adams love the Elders and are sharing in your grief. My Dad and Bob had a very special connection (of the same mind) and Bob was so good to him. I imagine Bob, Doc, and Had having some great intellectual discussion together up in Heaven. Love to you all. Peg (Adams) Sims"

"I would like to offer my condolences to the Elder family. Bob was truly a pleasure to work with and always very impressive with his knowledge and attention to details. He was a manager who had strong people and technical skills and that combination is often rare. He will be missed. I pray for peace for the family and God's loving hand to guide you through this difficult time. Put your trust in the Lord."
