Tim and I were best friends. We meet when we were both about eleven years old in Jacksonville, Tx. His grandparents lived there and between construction projects, his parents always moved back there.
We both loved adventure and the outdoors. We spent a lot of time at lake Jacksonville swimming and fishing in those days where his grand dad “Tinker” built a lake house very close to my parents lake house.
Occasionally, they would move away again. In a year or two when they moved back, we would always pick things up where we left things off.
When it was time to go off to college, we both chose Lamar in Beaumont, Tx. When the big day came, we loaded all our worldly possessions in the back of my 1930 Model A Ford “ Emily” and took off. We registered together, roomed together, joined the same fraternity APO, and had a great time. Too many stories to tell but we did go into the fireworks business together. He named our stands “ Little Stinkers” ‘cause we sold for less. A skunk was our logo on ten stands from South Houston to SE Texas.
When he married Sharon, I was the “best man”. I always teased him about that.
We hunted together, fished together, worked together and even though we might not see each other for several years at a time, when we meet, we picked things right back up.
I will miss him dearly. Prayers and love to all his family.
