Obituary of Jennifer Lynn Jefferson
Jennifer Lynn Jefferson, 59, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 27, 2024. She was born on May 30, 1964, in Houston to parents Wallace and Jo Ann Sanders.
Jennifer had many names to many people: Mom, Grammie, Aunt Jenni, and Miss Jennifer. She is remembered for her beautiful singing voice, her thoughtful attention to detail and her kind, loving spirit.
She loved her family, children, nephew, and grandchildren dearly and prided herself on her carefully selected gifts for them. Her favorite times of the week were her phone calls and FaceTime conversations with them.
She also looked forward to each week directing her childrens’choir alongside her accompanist husband, Rick, and did so for over 30 years. There was nothing that gave her more joy than to see the children learn, sing, and explore music. She served faithfully at West U Baptist for many years coordinating weddings and funerals and working the reception desk – assisting pastors and helping coordinate facilities and maintenance. In addition, she sang in the West U Choir and also sang for many years with BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ).
She was preceded in death by her father Wallace Sanders, sister Sharon Grimes, father-in-law and mother-in law Richard and Ruth Jefferson, and brother-in-law Steve Hawkins. Jennifer is survived by her husband of 41 years Rick Jefferson, her son Matthew Jefferson and wife Vicki and their sons Alexander and Nicholas, her son Patrick Jefferson and wife Claudette and their son Bennett and daughter Ryann, her son Andrew Jefferson and wife Lauren and their son Callum, her nephew John Grimes and fiancée Catherine, her mother Jo Ann Sanders, her brother David Sanders, her sister-in-law Teresa Hawkins, and her brother-in-law Ron Grimes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be directed to West University Baptist Church in memory of Jennifer.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held at West University Baptist Church, 6218 Auden St., Houston, Texas 77005, on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
