Obituary of Rose Mary McIntyre

Please share a memory of Rose Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rose Mary McIntyre was born June 24, 1931, in El Paso, Texas to Fred and Sybil Ludlow, and passed away on August 18, 2024, in Austin, Texas.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert McIntyre.

She is survived by her son, Randall McIntyre M.D. and wife Mary Ellen of Austin, Texas; sister, Roberta Carson; nieces, Lisa and husband Brent Campbell, Jay Lynn and Dole Dean Proctor; nephew, Pat and wife Tina Carson, all of Turkey, Texas.  She is also survived by many grand children and great-grandchildren of her sister, Roberta Carson, who all loved her as Aunt Rosie. Last and least of all, she is survived by her very bad cat who shall remain nameless.

Rose attended the UT School of Mines (UTEP) and graduated from Sul Ross State University with a degree in accounting.  She was a middle school Math teacher for the Midland Independent School District for over 30 years.  After her retirement she spent her time with loved ones and friends playing bridge, reading all manner of literature, traveling, aquatic exercise classes at the City of Midland Swim Center, and “reading” tarot cards at friend’s Halloween parties.

In 2016, Rose moved to Austin to be closer to Randy and Mary Ellen.  During her eight years in Austin, she was lovingly taken care of by many team members at Querencia where she was the resident president of her floor and participated in all the activities (except music).  She won many games of BINGO, Rummikub, Senior Olympics and even some spelling bees. Most importantly, she was known as the “Welcome Committee” for all new residents of the third floor.  She was a joyful presence for the Querencia staff and fellow residents.

Her friends and loved ones were blessed by having her in their lives.  She was a beacon of positivity and caring for all those who knew her.

Donations may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, northwest of Amarillo, Texas or a local Planned Parenthood
