Obituary of Liliana Riahi

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Miria Liliana Riahi, who entered heaven on August 17, 2024, in the Woodlands, TX, at the age of 83. Liliana was welcomed into this world on March 15, 1941, in Giovinazzo (Bari), Italy, to her parents, Maria and Dominic Notarangelo, and her brothers, Joseph and Vincent.

Liliana is survived by her beloved husband, Moulbled Riahi, and her children, Rizlane Riahi and Omar Riahi. Her beloved grandson, Luke Gulakowski, will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life.

Liliana graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University with a major in French. Soon after graduation, Liliana attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC, for graduate school. In 1968, she met Moulbled at a small sit-down dinner party. They married on July 20, 1974, and shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together. Liliana was blessed with two children, Rizlane and Omar, whom she was deeply devoted to. Liliana was the managing editor of a monthly scientific journal titled "Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts. In 1996, Liliana and her family moved to The Woodlands, TX, where she continued her editorial career.

Liliana always leaned on her faith for comfort. In the years after her retirement, she volunteered in the St. Simon and Jude’s church office. Liliana enjoyed season tickets to the opera, museums, and knitting in her spare time and has a passion for cooking. Liliana loved to make her famous focaccia bread for any special occasion.

Liliana was an attentive wife, mother, and grandmother who always prioritized her family’s needs. Even during her health challenges, Liliana maintained her faith and cheerful disposition. Her love and compassion extended to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warmth and love.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with a reception in Domec Hall following the service at Sts: Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Lock Dr., The Woodlands, Texas.

Following the reception, The Rite of Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Forest Park, The Woodlands Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S., The Woodlands, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul in memory of Liliana.
