"Much love to the Korkmas family. I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Korkmas once, but from Alex's stories I know he is a man who deeply cared about God, his family, and the Texas Aggies. Sending much light and love to your family.

"While I knew this was coming, and we all prayed that we would see Steve recover, it remains hard to put into words the feelings I had when I heard the news, but I would like to try.
I grew up with Steve as our families lived virtually next door to each other until I married and moved from Irving. And while I'm closer with Brian and Craig, who are nearer to my age, Steve was ever present in my experiences on Wingren Road!
I can say that as I thought of Steve, it brought back memories of those special, fun filled, almost glorious days of youth spent in our neighborhood. It also brought home to me that I took way too much in my blessed life for granted as I watched from afar as Steve battled this horrible disease.
Steve was the leader in our neighborhood; always ethically strong, athletic and smart. But he was funny too! And even though he was older then me, and could have been mean, he always treated me with kindness and good nature ribbing when deserved! That's just the kind of guy he was.
When I last saw Steve, at his uncle's funeral, he seemed almost ageless. That's why I, along with many others I'm sure, were shocked by the sudden onset of his cancer.
I also was saddened that I had not been able to stay more connected to Steve, and for that matter Craig, Brian and Cathy. It seems we lose touch too easily with people we care about, those who left strong touchstones of fond memories in our lives. And I feel we pay a strong price for letting that distance happen.
We were ALL lucky and blessed to know him. He was a good man, in the pure definition of that term, who loved his family, kids and his friends.
Steve is now at peace. We now mourn his passing but also celebrate what he meant to us. I'm sure that's how he would want it. I also know he left an incredible legacy for his wife Lisa and his kids. And boy, that legacy sure stretched out way beyond his family, to almost every one he touched.
I wish his family peace as well. They are such a dear part of my family's life and we grieve with them as if we have lost our own family member.
Greg Gilbert"

""May the sorrow in our hearts be replaced with the joy of knowing Steve from many years ago. There were some great times at Cistercian and at Texas A&M. We lived in the same apartment complex at A&M and shared many good times with the Dallas group from Cistercian ('75-'76) and Ursuline ('76). What a funny guy - never a dull moment! My thoughts are with all of the Korkmas family members, especially Cathy who was such big part of our lives back in the day. Treasure the memories of Steve as he will not be forgotten.""

loved by Stephen.
We are so grateful for your care and kindness to John, he told us Mr. Korkmas was very smart and funny.

"While working at Fina in the early 80's I had the pleasure of meeting Steve and later Lisa. He was always a man of great integrity, something he must have learned from his family upbringing. He was easily liked and admired by all that knew him. His beautiful wife, Lisa, is no different . Together they gained respect from their peers and admiration for creating a wonderful family of their own. And with your family , you now covet the memories of a full and wonderful life Steve had as he rests in peace. We will all miss him."

"It was an extreme pleasure to know Steve from a supplier/customer relationship. I had the privilege to call on FINA when Steve was the supply manager responsible for procuring their raw materials for their chemical businesses.
Ethical and professional in every way, he made FINA my favorite account. He became a great friend as well and, I too, got to spend a lot of time on various golf courses with him although I can't remember ever having the better score.
Praise God for people like Steve who have enriched the lives of all who were blessed to know him."

"I knew Steve (and his family) from my childhood in Irving, Texas, where we attended St. Lukes school and carpooled for a time. I have only fond memories of my friendship with him. Alas, we did not keep in touch but I will not forget him or his family, who were very kind to us. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during their time of grief and need for solace. Requiescat in pace Steve."

Please accept my condolences and prayers for the family's comfort and healing, and for Steve that he will be welcomed into the place our Father has prepared for him"
