My deepest Condolnces to the Fike and Graff families. I know you all will miss Danny greatly as he touched all your lives so much for many gifted years. There is no easy or right time to say Good Bye and especially not to such a wonderful man,dad, brother and uncle. What can we say ? Dan was one of a kind ! His wit was what I'll always recall as well as a cup of coffee in one hand and a smoke in the other.
I first met Dan on a scene when I was in the Crime Scene Unit in the early '90s then again later when I transferred to IAH. We worked together on night shift until I retired.

I had the distinct privilege of meeting Dan while entering the Houston Police Department as a trainee in 1997. Officer Fike was my first street trainer and he left a profoundly positive impression on me personally and professionally. Dan became my friend later in my career and I saw a man who loved his wife and family. I saw a man who could handle a stressful job without losing a smile on his face. He left a mark on my life and I often repeated a phrase he would tell me on occasion. "You're a good lad." Every time I used the phrase, it usually followed a memorable story about Dan and the stories he would tell. He never failed to get a laugh out of me and anyone else around. If I could reduce my thoughts and memories of Senior Police Officer Daniel P. Fike to a few words, it would be only that he was the epitome a police officer's officer. Goodbye old friend. Thank you for sharing a part of yourself with all of us. You were, and are...a good lad.

I had the privilege of working with Dan for many years at Central Patrol in the 80's and 90's. We worked together on nightshift and later on days. He was fun to be around and was an outstanding officer. You always new Dan had your back. When Dan transferred to the Airport Division I didn't get to see him very often, but when I did, he always had a smile on his face and a big handshake. I am sorry he left us so soon. He will be missed by many.

Dan was one of my field trainers at Central Patrol in 1993, he was great and really cared about the job. He made me feel at ease during training, I recall us eating at Someburger almost daily! Later after getting off probation I stayed at Central and we became good friends. He will be missed.

Danny will always hold a special place in my heart. As my next door neighbor throughout my entire childhood, our families were fast friends. Though I had not seen Danny since he moved to Houston I still maintain so many wonderful memories and a feeling of connection that will never be lost. Daniel Paul Fike was a very great friend and comrade of mine. I'm the Post Commander of The Houston Police VFW Post 6010, and Dan was our Junior Vice Commander. He was my right hand man whenever I needed him to help our post in community events and or going to VFW District meetings. Words can not express how I feel right now. "Gone But Will Never Ever Be Forgotten". RIP My Friend.
