I got to know Paul when he was at Oklahoma. One of the most fun guys to be around. He joined our fraternity as a football player - which was no small feat with all of the commitments. We all went our separate ways. Saddened that he left this life too soon. I take heart knowing that he surely spread his light as a father and friend in the same manner as when he was in his young, formative years.

All of Paul's paternal aunts: Maureen and Merle and uncles Marshall and Miles grew up as youngsters with Paul's dad Morton in Dallas, Texas. Unlike Morton and Paul, who were Texans through and through, they and their twelve still-living paternal first cousins (sadly, three first cousins predeceased Paul: Colleen Moriarty, Colleen Wheeler, and Bobby Philbrickl) are now spread out across the U.S. from California to Massachusetts and places in between.
Aunt Maureen Moriarty Dumin: Lyle Wheeler and Diane Landowski of WI
Uncle Marshall Moriarty RIP: Kathleen Farrell and Kelly Copeland of CA, Sean Moriarty of MD
Aunt Merle Philbrick RIP: Janet Sant and Debra Neal of SC
Uncle Miles Moriarty: James Moriarty, Jeanne McGee, Michele Tower, John Moriarty of SC and Jan Burkhardt of MA
Fortunately, over many years, there were lots of occasions in many places: Houston, Sugarland, The Woodlands, and Graham TX, Hobbs NM. Scituate MA, Key Largo FL, Fort Jackson and Columbia SC, and the Great Smoky Mountains in NC and TN. In those times and places, many of us had the opportunity to enjoy sharing the news of "what's cooking in your part of the world."
In every one of those gatherings, Paul was engaged, involved, and an absolute delight to be with. He was always a thoughtful, kind and considerate gentleman and friend. We considered Paul to be, as his father Morton would say, "A first class stud-buzzard". That was is good as it gets.
Our heartfelt sympathy, compassion and condolences go out to Paul's nuclear family, Kristen, Katelyn, Kiley, and his sister Jill Schmidt and her immediate family, and all of the others who loved him dearly.
Pax tibi sit semper vobiscum. RIP Dear Nephew Paul. Uncle Miles, Betty and Rusty

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. It breaks our hearts when death separates us from our loved ones. The God of all comfort is close to the brokenhearted and He has great compassion for those who are experiencing deep pain caused by grief (Psalms 34:18). May you find comfort in His grand promise to bring an end to tears and death (Isaiah 25:8). It is my hope that these thoughts Will help to ease your sorrow in the days ahead as you cherish your most treasured memories.
