Obituary of Leonard E. Emge
Leonard E. Emge, born on June 22, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to Peter and Christine Emge, died peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at St. Dominic's Village in Houston Texas.
Leonard (or “Len” as he was called by his friends) attended Catholic schools in San Antonio and Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. After his service in the Navy, he graduated from the University of Texas having earned a degree in engineering.
He had an extraordinary career in the petrochemical industry, beginning at the Celanese plant in the early 1950s in Kingsville, Texas. Len then transferred to Pasadena where he went on to serve in diverse capacities worldwide.
Len was passionate about golf, marathon running, and watching all UT sports. A quiet, gentle man, Len will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and most of all, his love of God and his church.
Len was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie. Many thanks to all his caretakers and those involved in his care for the last few years.
The Rite of Committal will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2019 at San Jose Burial Park, 8235 Mission Road, in San Antonio, Texas. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street in Houston, Texas. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. All are invited to a reception in honor of Len immediately following the services.
