I was Andy’s best friend in high school and we were roommates after graduating. I just googled Andy and learned of his passing. We spent so much of our high school years and early adult years playing basketball, going to Dodger games, backpacking, and just enjoying each other’s company. We shared a sense of humor, and we were inseparable. I am sad that we lost contact, but happy that he had such a happy family life.

My condolences to Andy’s family. When I was at the US EPA, Andy was a leader in HineS’s launch into Energy Star. His proof of concept demonstrated leader to the rest of the US real estate industry. The industry’s embrace of Energy Star would not have happened if not for Andy. Best wishes to Andy’s family, who should be proud in knowing of Andy’s leadership in global efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

I was so saddened when I heard that Andy had passed. Just recently I became friends with his sister Peggy via Facebook. Prior to this, It has been nearly 50 years since we last seen each other.. Andy and I use to listen to Dodger baseball on our transistor radios and played catch all the time when our families got together. Unfortunately the family get togethers diminished and eventually stopped as Joan and Merle separated.
I really wish we could have touched bases as adults and continued the friendship.
My thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with his entire family.

I will always remember the card trick on the phone that you and Grandpa would do with all of us when we were little. I will always remember your fervent love of sports. I will always remember your kindness and hospitality when we would stay at your house. I would rotate between playing on your piano and taking turns on the Nintendo and making a total mess with toys, and you would smile and joke through it all. Rest in peace, My beloved Uncle Andy.
