Laura Alicia Robles Muriel, was my baby sister. She was five years younger than me. That is why, when I heard that she had passed away I was both saddened and stunned. Since Laurita, as we called her, was the youngest it usually fell upon me to take care of her. When Laurita and I would go out to eat at a restaurant with our parents or go watch a movie or when we went to the park, she and I would always hang out together. Of course, when we grew up into our teens we became more independent of each other. When she was in her twenties, my sister got married and left for Chicago where she gave birth to her only son, Daniel or Danny, as we call him. They then came to settle in Houston, Texas. When her son, Danny, was old enough, Laurita would take him to Laredo to visit his grandparents, both my mom and dad as well as his grandparents on his father's side of the family. He would spend the summers with us and I would take him to play video games, go watch a movie, or to have something to eat. I would also take him to a little stand near our house and have a raspa to ward off the searing hot summer days that are all too typical of the Laredo climate. Those were simple, but wonderful times that were truly enjoyed and which I will always cherish. On special days like Thanksgiving and Christmas, we would all get together at our parent's house, where we would enjoy and celebrate the Holidays with the family. When I think of those days and the times we shared, it brings both a smile and a tear to my eyes. Rest in Peace, Laurita and may God Bless you. Now, my only consolation is that we will all be together again someday.

I would like to thank everyone who has written in their fond memories of my youngest sister, Laura. Those kind words ease her loss for me although the hurt remains. Our age difference made it difficult for me to share many times together, since there was a big age span between us, with me being the oldest and she being the youngest in the family. My young sister will always be remembered as a happy, free spirited person who touched many lives during her time here with us. May she Rest In Peace!

Laura, a/k/a “Fifi”, as us childhood friends growing up knew her when we lived in the “Los Amores” barrio on Flores and Jefferson on the streets of Laredo. Laura was a good loyal friend. She was fun, passionate and always good to everyone . As neighbors along with Tito De La Garza - we loved throwing firecrackers to the high palm trees in the Robles front yard and all of us trying to douch our the fire!!! It’s been awhile since we saw each other but at least it was in the year 2020. RIP my friend .

As children, my sister Amalia and I lived with our Uncle Manuel and Aunt Olivia and their family in Laredo, Texas for a period of time. This was five years before Laura was born. Amalia and I moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1951 so we never had the pleasure of meeting Laura but knew of her by way of intermittent contact over the years with her sisters, Gloria and Marta, and photos provided by them.
Our sincere condolences to Laura’s son, Daniel, and to her entire family on the loss of their beloved Laura.
