Obituary of Edward Earnest Okonski, Jr.
Whether you knew him as “Eddie”, “Dad”, “Smiley”, “Peepaw”, “Uncle Eddie”, “Okonski”, “Grumpy”, “Son”, or “Love Bug” you knew you were talking about an amazing man. Edward Earnest Okonski, Jr. left his family and friends on August 1, 2020, leaving behind a huge legacy. Eddie was born on May 28th, 1957 in Houston, Texas to Edward and Janie Okonski. He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1976. After high school he pursued his passion of wood-working by becoming a carpenter at Sutherland Construction and continued throughout his life until his death. Eddie became a Harris County Sherriff Officer in 1996, where he served his county proudly in various positions.
There’s no question that Eddie loved the outdoors. He spent many weekends either in a deer stand, sleeping next to his beloved BBQ pit, or working in the yard and on the house. He literally never stopped. Eddie would mow his front yard and then continue to do the neighbors with or without their permission. Eddie’s desire to help others was unlike any others. He would drop whatever he was doing for a friend or a stranger. He never met a person that didn’t turn into a friend. He had an infectious smile and a genuine personality.
He is survived by wife, Pamela Ann Okonski; sons, Edward Okonski, III and his wife, Shelly, and Connor Okonski; daughters, Katye Okonski, Nicole Raska and her husband, Kevin, and Amanda Buford and her husband, Johnathon; grandchildren, Trent Key, Taylor and Jason Hollin, Luke, Harper, and Hadlee Raska, Kaylee, Aimee, Lucille, and Eleanor Buford.
He is also survived by his parents, Edward and Janie Okonski; brothers, Samuel Okonski and his wife, Deborah, Greg Okonski and his wife, Darlene, and Brian Okonski; and sister, Mary Morrow and her husband, Dave.
