I’ve known George since freshman year in high school and we’ve been friends ever since. George would always be there for anyone, drop what he was doing, and be there with a smile on his face. He’s always happy, thereby making others happy. I remember parties (or small gatherings, Mr and Mrs Ryan) in George’s basement in high school. College, too. The Outfield ALWAYS reminds me of him…any song. So does a particular REM song where he knew all the words and always sang it. All the boys at George’s house singing (quite loudly) Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. As I recall, they’d all gather together, put their arms around each other’s necks, standing side by side, and sing it at the top of their voices. I always wanted to join in because I loved that song, too, but it was the “Boys” thing. Flaming shots of Sambuca. Spring Break. His annual Halloween Parties in Winfield. Texting during MSU playoff games, most recently this past March Madness when UCLA knocked MSU out of the tournament. And always being a great, thoughtful friend that you could always count on no matter what!! Karyn and his (their) two beautiful sons made him so happy!! I can’t quite comprehend this. George will be dearly, dearly missed. My heart and my prayers go out to Mr and Mrs Ryan, Pat, Karyn, Payton, Colton, Karyn’s parents, his niece and nephews…and even Bristol and Waylon! He always loved his doggies. May God Bless All of You…and George (and Kathy) in Heaven. Love Always, Dee

Payton and our Justin were best buds in preschool so we got to know George and Karyn a bit that way. He was a fantastic dad, great host and because of him I did my first shotski at the age of 40! He is obviously so well loved and admired and our hearts and prayers go out to Karyn, the boys and all who knew and loved George. His legacy will live on in all he did and knew.

I only had the pleasure of meeting George a few times, but he made you feel like he knew you forever! He always acknowledged every Facebook comment, too! What a special guy! I'm so sorry for your loss, as I know it from watching your family grow over the past 10 years, it was really a great family dynamic! However, I hope as time passes you are able to honor his zest for life and live life to its fullest! He will be watching over you and holding you close! Hugs and prayers for your whole family! Love, Nancy Alt

My thoughts and prayers are with Karyn and the boys. Karyn, you and the boys will follow in George’s footsteps and live life to the fullest and that is how you’ll honor his legacy. Every family picture that I’ve seen shows how much love you all had for each other. Stay strong.

Our time with George here in Texas was much too short, but he easily became one of our closest friends along with Karyn and the boys. I like to remember the night we meet on the 4th of July in 2020. He came walking up to our driveway with his awesome smile and invited us over. Some good conversation about Chicago, Texas, and Karyn's bad pool day (with her leg propped up in a chair). George introduced us to some of the best hotdogs, Italian beef sandwichs, and the absolute best chocolate cake ever, as well as his many other unforgettable meals (brisket spring rolls...WOW!) You will forever live in our hearts George, and you will be greatly missed until we meet again.

I did not know George. I do not know Karyn. I feel like I do know them because of Karyn’s parents Wally and Margaret. They are long time friends of ours.
I know George and Karyn loved their boys Payton and Colton. Their grandparents Wally and Margaret on the other hand were so happy to be grand parents. They doted on those boys everyday of their lives and would do anything for them.
I know they are heart broken for their daughter Karyn and the boys. I prayed so hard for George to get better and survive. The Lord had another plan for George and his family.
I will continue to pray for this family, that God will give them strength and accept God’s love for them. ✝️

All my love and prayers go out to George’s family, especially to Karyn, Payton and Colton. There is no way to find a favorite memory of George because every single memory I shared with him is my favorite. George was a best friend and brother to my husband, a second father to my children, an awesome father and an amazing husband to one of the best friends I have ever had. I am forever grateful to have had George in my life as a true friend, always offering the best advice over one of his amazing meals. Please watch over all of us as we continue to try to navigate life without you. RIP, until we meet again.
