As one of the best friends I ever knew in my life. Calvin Weldon comes to mind this early morning. I couldn't ask for a better friend. He took me in when I was down and expected nothing of me in return. He created work just so I could save money to get back on my feet. Anything from cleaning his house, grocery shopping, dog sitting and running errands. This man was there for me all the way and never gave me a moment of grief. He was my friend through and through.
I miss Calvin Weldon very much. He used to love to try to challenge my faith with 101 questions. You'd had to have known him to understand exactly how and what I mean.
I often think of Calvin and some of the memories we shared. Living under his roof was quite interesting to say the least. Like one time he called me at around 1:30 AM. I was sound asleep. I didn't even know he was in the area because Calvin went off on a lot of adventures. However, this night he called me.
Me: Hello?
Calvin: Jennifer, were you awake?
Me: No but it's okay. Are you okay?
Calvin: No! I had a wreck on my motorcycle. Can you come help me?
Me: Where are you?
Calvin: I laid my bike over around the corner. I just need some help lifting it back up. (Calvin had a very nice street bike. Which is why he couldn't lift it on his own.)
Me: I'm on my way. (And so I went to help the friend that was always helping me.)
Another time I recall. Calvin invited me out to eat on the bay at a seafood restaurant on the #seabrooktx side of Clear Lake. When we left, he asked me to drive us. He wasn't feeling to well. We left and I got pulled over by the local police of Kemah, Texas. The officer walked up on the driver's side and Calvin intervened. Asking the officer to meet him at the back of Calvin's truck. Of course introducing himself as a retired helicopter police officer himself. (Calvin was retired but still serving.) The officer obliged Calvin and the next thing I know, we're released. I still to this day don't know why I was pulled over but I'm grateful for both Calvin and that on duty officer of #KemahTexas
Calvin was a very private person. He never spoke too much of his woes. He seemed to always be happy and sometimes full of himself. (Funny guy!) Who definitely loved his family and his friends very much.
There was only once Calvin ever stepped out of line with me. I'd been cleaning his house all day. As I was walking past him he patted me on my rear end. Calvin got the biggest laugh of his life when he got a big surprise from me.
Telling him, "YOU NEVER EVER DO THAT AGAIN!" Laughing as hard as he could, "Alright Jennifer, Alright!!" I stayed on his behind about that. Drilling him never to overstep his boundaries with me. He never did again and we remained friends up until his death.
You couldn't ask for a better friend. I absolutely love Calvin and if he were still with us today. There could be nothing I would not do for him to this day.
I miss you my friend. I miss you a lot. I miss the laughter, the advice and your dedicated friendship. Until we meet again. RIP my friend. Surely you found your crown.

Calvin was my next door neighbor and my friend. He was one of the first people to welcome our family when we arrived to our home in 2020. He was an original resident of our neighborhood and spent time with me socializing about the subject as well as ways to bring more fun and improvements for everyone. I will miss him. Condolences from the Talleys.

Calvin and I routinely sat and discussed current affairs. Calvin was the "go to guy" for all things concerning police helicopter maintenance and those every day issues that made life interesting. I did not realize how much I missed Calvin until I observed the photograph of him in his flight suit...time passes much too quickly and my heart is saddened that Calvin is no longer among us but I knew Him well and Calvin is in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ...I find solace in this truism. Miss ya Sarge!

One could not ask for a better friend. Calvin was one who went above and beyond the needs of others, as he did for me, when I was down. He was one of the few left in this world who genuinely cared about others without saying it. He just did whatever was needed to make life better for others. Truly one of my dearest friends. He is and will always be missed.
My condolences to his family with prayers for peace that surpasses all understanding and memories that reflect all that he was.
With much love and respect. RIP my friend.
