Please share a memory of Jeanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeanne Marie Oates Angulo, born on December 16,1944 in Passaic, New Jersey, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at her home in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Jeanne lived a full life - she was an outstanding student, a successful and trailblazing executive with a tireless devotion to God, her family and volunteerism, and an outstanding mentor and role model to many.

Jeanne grew up in White Plains, New York and Miami, Florida, graduating high school from Immaculata Academy, where she was President of the National Honor Society, the Forensic League and the Saint Joseph’s Auxiliary. Jeanne graduated from the University of Wisconsin and then began her career in New York at advertising agency West, Weir and Bartel. She progressed through varied media positions prior to becoming the first woman account executive in radio or television at Blair Radio.

After conquering the media world in New York, Jeanne moved to Washington, D.C. where she became the General Manager of WPGC AM/FM, was honored with the Advertising Club of Washington's Silver Medal Award and recognized as a Woman of the Year by Washington Woman magazine. Following her successful career in television and radio, Jeanne was tapped to serve as President of the Capital Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 1994. In her twelve years at the MS society Jeanne presided over an explosion in contributions to the Capital Chapter from $2 million to $5 million annually. Always eager to give back to her community, Jeanne also served on the boards of many community organizations in the Washington area, including the March of Dimes, the Metropolitan Police Boys and Girls Club, the USO, the Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts, and the Women of Washington.

Transitioning her career to the non-profit sector wasn’t the only big change for Jeanne in 1994. That was also the year she married the love of her life, Albert “Al” William Angulo, and became step-mother to his son and daughter. Jeanne and Al loved each other unconditionally - expressing their love for each other with their favorite phrase “mas que ayer y menos que mañana” (“more than yesterday and less than tomorrow”). In 2006, Jeanne and Al retired to Houston, TX to be closer to their granddaughters. In retirement, Jeanne continued giving back to her community through her volunteer work at Amazing Place, Texas Children's Hospital, The St. Anne’s Guild, and The Charity Guild of Catholic Women.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, John Fleming Oates and Alice Ruth Crowley Oates; her beloved husband Al; and her brother John “Jay” Oates.  She is survived by her devoted step-children, Geoff Angulo and his wife Gina, and Marisa Angulo Feighl; grandchildren, Marisa Angulo, Patricia Angulo, Julia Feighl and Marisol Feighl; her dear cousin Pat Michell; her sister-in-law Lucille Oates; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at one o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, March 21, 2022 at St Anne Catholic Community, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston, Texas. A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Amazing Place ,3735 Drexel Drive, Houston, Texas  77027 or The Charity Guild of Catholic Women, 1203 Lovett Blvd., Houston, Texas 77006
