I’ve known Nanette since 1991 when we worked together at BMC Software and then she brought me on at DHL. She was an awesome friend and soo smart too. She changed my life in such a positive way and I will always love her. We had a great time on her sailboat a few years ago and I will not forget her beautiful soul. Lastly, Nanette loved her girls and she was so proud of them!

Nanette was my next-door neighbor growing up. Some of my best memories are riding bikes and she always had the faster one. We would be silly like girls often are. One of my favorite things we would do is try to make flubber in her kitchen but it would not bounce. Millie was so patient with us. Another favorite memory is riding in the back of her dad’s jalopy around the neighborhood being loud and silly. We had a great slumber parties, too. Nanette was always out for a good time and I loved her dry wit and sarcasm. She was smart as a tack and immensely compassionate for all living things. In these last years I enjoyed following her efforts as she raised Monarchs. Cyra and Shana, y’all were the pride of her life along with her “Littles” I am truly heartbroken but know that our life is in His hands. My prayers are for peace and understanding for you. Love, Lynn Paulsen

I will never forget the time she came to LA and called Rome and I to go listen to the band she was going to manage. She loved Rome’s sarcasm and he said after we saw the band, keep your day job! We had so many fun times, this is just one of them. She and my brothers Dennis and Tim had many adventures.

I moved to Lindenwood Drive when I was 12 and your mom was the first girl to welcome me into the neighborhood. In fact, we got on our bikes, and she showed me all around the neighborhoods, pointing out all the homes that had soon-to-be friends. I don't think we stopped riding bikes, finding new adventures and laughing the entire time until she got her driver's license!
Then "Katy bar the door" because there was NO stopping us then! We had such a blast and found humor in everything. Our favorite trip was to the beaches near Houston and then college was often our weekend trip. I had the car and once again she kept me entertained with party after party! lol
I hope all the memories people share help ease you pain.
Sincerely,
Vicki McErlean

When the clouds will make the rain
And the sun will shine on the raindrops
I will miss you every day
When the birds will sing
and the butterflies will come in spring
I will miss you every day
When the moon will shine on the earth
and the stars will sparkle in the sky
I will miss you every day
When the tress will blow the icy winds
And the winter will freeze over the leaves
I will miss you every day
Rest in Peace my friend
I will never forget the journey we went through together.
Love and Prayers.

I will truly miss her. I enjoyed our conversations when we worked together and after we both left DHL. She was always open and honest. She gave it to you straight and that's what made me appreciate her. I cherish the years of advice, good laughs and conversations.

Nanette was so kind and inclusive to me as Cyra’s friend in middle school. I felt that her home was my second home and the environment of love and laughter that she created is one that I hope to replicate for my son’s friends. Her love during that time was so appreciated and the teenager inside me that she helped nurture is so saddened by her lost.

Dearest Shana and Cyra and family,
As you know, your dear mother was one of my very closest lifelong friends, one of the loveliest people I have ever known. She was kind, generous, loving, creative, and had such an incredible sense of humor. She brought such joy to everyone who crossed her path, I hope you will find solace knowing that she is now resting comfortably in the arms of our Lord.

Firstly I want to thank Shana & Cyra for sharing their incredible mother with me and countless others at DHL. She was like a second mom to me in so many ways mostly sharing the do's and don’ts of raising teenage daughters.
I have so many fond, fun, thankful memories of Nanette but the one memory that was a constant was the love that she expressed for her daughters and grandchildren they were that extra sparkle in her eyes. She was so talented in so many things and her adventurous spirit is one we all loved and will cherish.
Mamma Gatling you were a true friend to many and I will miss you beyond words. I will never understand these type of untimely losses but I do know that you were a beautiful, loving, faithful woman of God and I’m certain he welcomed you with open arms.
May God hold you Shana and Cyra during these difficult days and know that you will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Family of Nanette,
I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Nanette. She had a funny and humorous personality. I pray that all of you will continue to remember the many wonderful experiences shared with her and that those memories will bring you a measure of peace and comfort. She will certainly be missed by many. Please find comfort in what our Loving Creator had penned for us all in the Bible at Revelation 21:4 "And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things will have passed away." This is a wonderful promise from God who cannot lie and will soon become a reality for all.

Nanette was my first friend at DHL. I adored her - she was kind, authentic, talented, and laugh-till-you-cry funny! Seriously, she could see the humor in everything. More than anything though, Nanette was so very proud of and in love with her daughters, Cyra and Shana. I can’t recall a conversation where her daughters went unmentioned. It was clear to me that she walked that delicate balance of living for them and living with them. Cyra and Shana, you are her greatest accomplishments and I think she would want you to know that she wants you to live and love your best selves and not lose a moment in any thought other than the wonder and awe of the spectacular time that you all shared together. I’m so proud of what Nanette accomplished for herself in the last decade+. It seems that she ended as her best self, but that’s Nanette for you! I love you, Nanette! Always have, since the day we met in July 2001. I'm better for having known you and I feel good knowing your spirit will thrive because of all the good you put in the world in your 70 fabulous years. Requiescat in Pace, dear friend.
